Jim passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at his home. He was born February 27, 1923 the son of Lech and Laura (Boggs) Blackburn. Jim was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy. On October 29, 1942 in Maytown, Kentucky, he was united in marriage to Geneva Meade, who preceded him in death in 1994.
He is survived by three children, James (Carol) Blackburn of Bowling Green, KY, Cecil (Rosie) Blackburn of Portage and Greg (Sue) Blackburn of Paw Paw; 7 grandchildren, Frank (Megan)Blackburn and Regina (Tim) South, both of Bowling Green, KY, Scott Blackburn of Paw Paw, Amy Blackburn and Jeff Blackburn both of Portage, Greg Blackburn of Paw Paw and Ryan (Samantha) Blackburn of Mattawan; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Pat (Tommy) Caine of Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Geneva and three brothers, Bob, Walker and Bill Blackburn.
Family will receive friends Tuesday (11/5) from 5-7 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Private family burial with full military honors will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park North, Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Paw Paw American Legion.
