Irene passed away Saturday morning, October 1, 2011 at Hospice Home of Mid-Michigan in Lansing. She was born May 27, 1916 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late John and Anne (Duris) Belan. The family moved to the farm south of Paw Paw in 1935. She met her future husband at a "neighborhood" baseball game. Irene resided in Paw Paw her entire adult life. She loved cooking and baking, and prepared many delicious meals for her extended family and friends. She took on cake decorating as a hobby and provided her grandchildren and great grandchildren with elaborate cakes for birthdays and other special occasions. Irene was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw, where she served on the Priscilla Guild. On August 26, 1939 in Paw Paw, Irene was united in marriage to Gerald (Jerry) I. Cramer who preceded her in death on May 6, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Cramer in November 2000; sister and brother-in-law, Anna (Wayne) Maxam; brothers-in-law, Ray Hildebrand and Steve Sagat; nephews, James and Richard Maxam. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon J. (JB) Allaire of Holt, MI; son, Terry L. (Christine) Cramer of Grosse Point Woods, MI; 8 grandchildren, Jay Allaire, Carey Allaire, Jill Donaldson, Erin Allaire, Elizabeth Cramer, Robert Cramer, Derek Hellenga, and Dustin Hellenga; 7 great grandchildren: Roland Allaire, Cale Allaire, Sierra Donaldson, Spencer Donaldson, Eli Allaire, Julian Allaire and James Cramer; 2 sisters: Betty Sagat and Emily Hildebrand both of Park Ridge, IL; brother: William J. Belan of Paw Paw, MI; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday (10/4) 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 1 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church Paw Paw with Rev. Roy Olsen officiating. Interment will follow the service in Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw.
