PANOZZO, Inez T.
Longtime Paw Paw resident Inez Panozzo, 102, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, 2014 at White Oaks Retirement Residence in Lawton. Inez was born to Olympia and Paolo Fabrie on Sept. 27, 1912 in San Francisco, California, and spent her early years in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage to Albert Panozzo in 1933. She and Albert moved to a farm in Paw Paw in 1945 where they raised cattle, grapes, asparagus and Belgian draft horses for 38 years. In addition to working alongside Albert on the farm, Inez worked at La Cantina, Country Kitchen, Gateway Inn Restaurant and Production Rubber. Inez was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar Society, organized and prepared funeral luncheons and volunteered as a bingo worker. More recently she has been a parishioner of St. John Bosco Church in Mattawan. Inez enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, reading, traveling, playing cards, bingo and Scrabble, and going to casinos. She was also an accomplished seamstress and hand quilter. Preceding her in death were Albert, her husband of 50 years, in 1983; their daughter Gloria in 1965; her brothers Louis Fabrie, Paul Fabrie and Tony Navigate; sisters, Ellen Smith, Mary Franczyk and Pauline Paul. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Alberta (Larry) Hoikka of Kalamazoo and Phyllis Panozzo of Niles; grandchildren, JoAnn (Randy) Roberts, John (Janice) Terry, Jeff (Kari) Hoikka, Jennifer (Craig) Curtis, Julie (Jon) Heasley, Josh (Tara) Hoikka, Teresa (Luan) Nguyen, Claire (David) Arpasi and Michael (Sarah) Van Horn; great-grandchildren Adam, Rachel, Calvin, Cooper and Coral Terry, Justin and Kody Hoikka, Sydney and Mackay Heasley, Avery and Marina Curtis, and Carter Van Horn. Friends may visit with family at the Adams Funeral Home in Paw Paw Sunday (12/14) from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m. where a vigil prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, (12/15), 11 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church, Mattawan, with Rev. Mathew lllikattil, celebrant. Mass will be followed by a luncheon in the church hall and burial will take place afterward at St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Arrangements by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
