Paw Paw
Hoddy passed away at his home Wednesday morning, December 21, 2011, just 9 days before his 87th birthday. He was born December 30, 1924 in Paw Paw the son of the late Dennis and Ethleta (Smith) Middaugh. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in North Africa and the European Theater. He was a life member of the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post #68, Paw Paw and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Hoddy was a hard worker all of his life right up to his retirement in 2007. Some of the 'many hats that he wore' were as a Village of Paw Paw police officer, owner/operator Middaughs Standard Gas Station, manager of Lake Cora Hills Golf Club, Paw Paw and golf cart repairman. On February 14, 1948 in Hartford, Hoddy was united in marriage to Betty Myers who survives. Also surviving are 2 children, Karen (Karl) Jungel of Phoenix, AZ and Terry (Lori) Middaugh of Lawton; 4 grandchildren, Tammy (Daniel) Amavisca and Holly Jungel of Phoenix, Az.; Matthew (Cassie) Middaugh of Va. and Shawn Middaugh of Lawton. 6 great grandchildren, Santiago, Antonio, Ashleigh, Miguel Amavisca and Emma Nilsen all of Phoenix, Dade Middaugh of Va.; sisters-in-law Clemmie Middaugh, NC and Elsie Corsaut, Detroit, brother-in-law Dale Beach, Paw Paw and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Dennis, Orson, Roscoe, Vernon and Francis Middaugh; 3 sisters, Lucille Sheppard, Nancy Lothamer and Nellie Beach. As per Hoddy's request there will be no visitation or services. The family will honor his memory with a celebration of his life next summer. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
