Heriberto passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Borgess-Pipp Hospital in Plainwell. He was born March 16, 1937 in Brownsville, Texas, the son of Napoleon and Estella (Hinojosa) De La Garza. Heriberto was a truck driver and most recently worked in environmental services at Western Michigan University.
On October 18, 1990, Heriberto was united in marriage to Elizabeth Hughes, who survives. He is also survived by 7 children, Susanna, Heriberto, Jr., Senaida, Hermelinda, Silvanio, Luzarco and Rachel; 4 step-children, Walter, Jerry, Vicky and Michael; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 9 siblings, Elodia (the late Alfonso) Gonzalez, Rumaldo (Eva), Gilberto (Francis), Leoncio (Juanita) De La Garza, Andrea (Paul) Quick, Art (Margaret) and Guillermo (Veronica) De La Garza, Dora (David) Sauceda and Ricardo De La Garza.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Mattawan, Rev. Fr. Robert Flickinger, celebrant.
