Herbert "Jim" Sage, 88, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away Sunday December 8, 2019 at his home in Kalamazoo.
He was born June 19, 1931 in Gobles, the eldest son of the late Cleon Sage and Nina (McElheny) Sage.
On October 17, 1956, he married the love of his life, Cleo (Wolf) Sage who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Linda (Phil) Nagel, three sons, Ronald Sage, Gary (Chambeelyn) Sage and Michael Sr. (Pamela) Sage; seven grandchildren, Jeanette (Loren), Amber (Ben), Christopher (Haley), Ashley, Samantha (Robert), Michael II and Kingston, nine great grandchildren, Kaylynn, Nolan, Madysen, Evelyn, Logan, Grace, Holland, Everly, and Phoebe, brother, Thomas Sage and sister, Isa "Fay" (Royal) Wessels.
Herbert was preceded in death by his three brothers, William, Dennis, Timothy, three sisters, Patricia Baker, Mary Haggard and Sandra Castle.
Herbert served his country in the Army for seven years during the Korean War. While serving in the Army he earned the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Herbert served as a Boy Scout leader for many years, as well as referee for high school sports. He was an avid dog lover and outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Above all, Herbert was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by us all. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts.
A memorial service and luncheon will be held Friday, December 13, 2019 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Paw Paw Conservation Club, 56222 30th St., Paw Paw, 49079.
