Helen Louise Allen

Helen Louise (Wolf) Allen, peacefully passed away at age 97 on November 14, 2024. Helen was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, daughter of Walter and Virginia (Miller) Wolf. She was predeceased by husband Clarence Henry Allen (1921-2000) and is survived by their four children: Barbara (John) Fragale of Honeoye Falls, NY, James (Susan) of LaGrange, KY, Gerald (Sandra) of Cadiz, KY and Jeffrey (Monica) of Caanan, NH. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, her brother Walter Wolf, along with nephews and nieces. 

Helen worked in the Wolf Grocery Store growing up. She graduated from St. Joseph (MI) High School in 1945, graduating a month before the end of WWII. Helen attended Albion College where she met and married Henry in 1948. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Albion College in 1949. She is a member of Delta Zeta national sorority at Albion College and the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. They lived in Fremont, MI, and moved to Greece, NY, in 1961 where she obtained her teachers certifications from SUNY at Brockport, so she could be a Special Education teacher at the City of Rochester School District, from where she retired. She enjoyed Bridge, square dancing, sewing, and other crafts. Her family especially enjoyed her endless love, and fantastic cooking.

Years ago, Henry specifically asked that the family history book contain "She has always been a friend to people, great mom & wife”. That is still true and worth repeating. We all miss her and know she will be with all her family and Bridge friends in heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, Michigan. Interment will follow at Hill Cemetery, Red Arrow Hwy, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, please pass on a random act of kindness to a stranger or someone in need.
