George "Pete" Henry Richmond

George "Pete" Henry Richmond Jr., 70, of Lawrence, passed away Sunday July 28, 2019 at his home.
He was born February 20, 1949 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late George H. Richmond Sr. and Aris (Seelye) Richmond.
George was born and raised on the family farm in Kalamazoo where he worked baling hay and cutting wood. He served in the Army during Vietnam. He and Deb moved to Paw Paw in 1975 where they purchased a farm and started a family. He retired from MDOT with more than 20 years of service. George always made sure his grandchildren and family where taken care of.
On April 10, 1970 he married Deborah (Porter) Richmond who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Hanna  Sharpe; two sons, Chancey (Jessica) Richmond, George (Jenn) Richmond; 13 Grandchildren, Porter Sharpe, Emma Sharpe, Jackson Richmond, Austin Richmond, Elliana Richmond, Quinn Richmond, Luke Richmond, Nolan Richmond, Clare Richmond, Josh (Laura) Gabrielse, Jessica (Nate) Wilder, Will Sharpe and Jake Sharpe, along with his brother in law, John Kilgore.
George was preceded in death by his sisters, Esther Kilgore and Ann Boyd.
The family will receive friends on Sunday August 4, 2019 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, where a celebration of life will commence at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Josh Gabrielse officiating. George will be laid to rest Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
