George Peter Sherwood, age 93, of Lawrence, passed away April 22, 2016. He was born December 1, 1922 in Kalamazoo, to the late Clyde Sr. and Tessie (Yonkman) Sherwood. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Violet (Wilson) Sherwood, five daughters; Sally (David) Parker of Mattawan, Susan (William) Forester of Kalamazoo, Mary (David) Miller of Oracle, AZ, Rebecca (Gerald) Bowler of Monterey, TN and Catherine (Wm. Selkirk III) Miller of Kalamazoo, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, one brother, Clyde Jr. (Dorothy) Sherwood of Kalamazoo, along with many nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, "Bosco". He was preceded in death by His sister, Tessie Eager. George served his country in the Army during WWII in Europe. By trade, George was a building contractor. He had many talents and could fix anything. Later in life, he learned to work with computers and enjoyed surfing the internet. He was a true sportsman and avid fisherman, especially ice fishing. Over the years he was on two golf leagues and a bowling league, he was a member of Lake Cora Golf Club. George loved baseball and was especially a Detroit Tiger fan. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends. Memorial contributions in George's name may be made to the Wings Home Hospice, 330 Linn Street, Allegan, MI 49010. Services will be private.
