George passed away Saturday morning, January 5, 2013 in Bronson Nursing and Rehab Center in Lawton. He was born March 13, 1923 in Paw Paw the son of the late John and Julia (Nowak) Jacher. He was a graduate of Paw Paw High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater receiving 4 bronze services stars for serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. After the service he was employed by Warner Vineyards, Paw Paw as a wine maker retiring in 1983. George was a Paw Paw Volunteer Fireman and he enjoyed ice fishing and hunting. On February 4, 1950 in Indiana, George was united in marriage to Geraldine R. Scranton who survives. Also surviving is a daughter Georgia (Tom) Norton of Wailuku, Hawaii; brother, Stanley (Elsie) Jacher of Kalamazoo; nieces and nephews, Cas Scranton, Karen (Chet) Kierpaul, Judy Lundgren, Kathy Lincoln, John Jacher, and Tom (Marge) Jacher. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013, 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Paw Paw with a luncheon to follow. Interment of Cremains will be Friday, March 22, 2013, 2 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Paw Paw Volunteer Firemen's Fund. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
