George Allen Guritz, 98, of Paw Paw, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at his home. Born July 4, 1925, in Beecher, Illinois, George was the son of George Guritz and Ella (Lindermann) Guritz.
George proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Sechman August 26, 1950. George retired after working many years as head custodian from Paw Paw Schools. He was a proud veteran and member and past commander of the American Legion McGowan-Johnson Post #68, Past Commanders Club and a member of Mckinley-Wilson-Hall VFW Post #2532 Paw Paw.
He is survived by his two daughters, Linda (Martin) Koziol of Grand Junction and Darlene (Blaze) Barden of Allegan, four step grandchildren, Rachel Luscomb, Andy (Tammy) Koziol, Brand (Laura) Barden and Destine (Stephanie) Barden, five step-great grandchildren, Hanna Cassel, Jessica Cassel, Lucas Luscomb, Tyler (Alana) Barden and B.J. Barden, two step-great great grandchildren, Julianna and Haasani Hunt.
George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Genevieve "Jenny" (Sechman) Gurtiz, his brothers, Earl Guritz, Arthur Guritz and Melvin Guritz, two sisters, Della Dillenbeck and Anna VanDenBerg.
Family will receive friends Monday, February 26, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 721 Pine Street, Paw Paw, where a memorial service will commence at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Philip Phifer officiating. Following services, a luncheon will be held at the church. George will be placed to rest at Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church.
