George Lindy Darling, 93, of Lawton, passed away Friday, July 29, 2021 at his home.
George was born January 22, 1928 in Lawton, the son of Edward Albert Darling and Irene Hester (Smith) Darling.
George joined the United States Army and served faithfully during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 as a Sergeant. He married his loving wife, Virginia on June 26, 1954 when he was honorably discharged from the Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 220 in Lawton. George enjoyed wood working and he was a natural born carpenter. He taught himself most of the trade including electric. He loved to spend time with his kids and grandkids. He was a fun loving fellow with great spirits and he enjoyed laughing and sharing memories.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Lee Huckaba and Diane Lee (Thomas) Petersen; three sons, Stan (Mary) Darling, Ronald (Lisa) Darling and Ricky (Rachel) Darling; eleven grandchildren, Derek & Adam Huckaba, Amber, Tiffany, Bridget and Ashley Darling. Jamie, Amanda, Crystal Darling, Amy Stratton and Andy Stratton; one sister, Elaine (Max) Loker, his best canine companion, Senna and his longtime friend Ray "Tex" David.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, in 2006, Brothers, Frank "Boots" Darling, Max Darling, Glenn Darling and Charles Darling, sisters, Aline Dudash, Lillian Grace Smead, Dorothy Arnold and Edith & Cenerus Darling.
Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Fellowship, 201 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, with Pastor Tim Gunderson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton.
