At the age of 96, after living a blessed and abundant life, Genevieve Jaros went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2016. She is the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Kwasniak) Haluch and a proud life-long resident of Paw Paw, MI where she was born on June 16, 1920. She was a 1938 graduate of Paw Paw High School and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was baptized, made her first communion and was united in marriage to Ted Jaros on August 24, 1940. Surviving are Children Mary Ann (Earl) Bass of Daggett, MI, Robert Jaros of Paw Paw, MI, Carol (Scott) Nugteren of Paw Paw, MI and Kathleen (Bill) Crook of Paw Paw, MI.; Grandchildren Kenneth (Brandi) Dietz, Richard Dietz, Laurie (Tim) Himmelmann, Walter (Jenny) Dietz, Jane (David) Larson, Robert (Michelle) Jaros, Kristen (Travis) Allers, Kellie (fiancé Adam Young) Nugteren, Ted (Kari) Crook; Great Grand Children Samantha Dietz, Ashton Holdridge, Bo Dietz, Rhiannon Himmelmann, Garrett Dietz, Mikayla Larson, Nathan Larson, Nolan Jaros, Ryan Jaros, Lauren Jaros, Gavin Allers and many nieces and nephews. A warm personality and a beautiful smile greeted the many wonderful people Genevieve met in her lifetime while working side by side with her husband Ted on their family farm in Waverly Township and in their grocery store of 21 years. In the late 1960’s when the small mom & pop stores were pushed to extinction by the large box stores, Genevieve and Ted changed direction and purchased the Spot Tavern in Lawton which they owned and operated for 11 years while still continuing to farm. Her zest for life was contagious and she loved talking to everyone! She enjoyed her Detroit Tigers, playing bingo, polka dancing, dressing up for Halloween and cheering on her grandkids at their sporting events, just to name a few. Genevieve always had a catch phrase to share, and if you knew her, it was sure to make you laugh.A visitation will be held Monday, November 14, 2016 from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Adam’s Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw, MI, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 pm.
