Fred passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 3, 2013 at his home. He was born March 2, 1929 the son of the late Fred and Lena (Jones) McQueer, Sr. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was Chief Stewart at ARA Services Vending Machine Company until his retirement in 1986. He was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed golfing, going to the casino and in his early years, riding motorcycles. Surviving are 4 children, Michael (Sheri) McQueen, David McQueer, Lisa (Jimmy) Simos and Joan Nicosia; step-daughters, Barbara Hornsby and Lynda (Robert) Plaskey; granddaughter, Cindy (Kelly) Watkins; grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgina M. McQueer. Fred was a special friend to Ann Marie Sierzenga (deceased) and her family. A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
