Frank Charles Sage, 71, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully Saturday November 7, 2020 at his home.
He was born September 1, 1949 in Paw Paw, the son of Charles Sage and Caroline (Cramer) Sage.
Frank is a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal from General Westmoreland and a Medal for Sharpshooter.
Frank married his best friend and sole mate, Kimmy (Kimm Sherburn) November 25, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Frank is survived by his wife, Kimm, two daughters, Heather (Late Jonathan) Vore, Haley (Jeff) Crites; one son, Daren (Rhiannon) Sage; seven grandchildren; one brother, Anthony (Tina) Sage and one sister, Sherry Helmich. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Sage.
Frank was a graduate of Paw Paw High School and attended KVCC for one year. He was a self taught carpenter and owned a successful home construction business. He then taught building trades at the Van Buren Skills Center and the Eaton County Skills Center. When Frank's parents retired, Frank and Kimm took ownership of the Hotel De Hamburger and expanded the business and called it, The Harbor. Frank returned to building and manging commercial projects in South Bend, Savannah and Daytona Beach. Frank and Kim loved living in Florida, however, when the grandkids came along, it was time to move back home and retire.
Frank was a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions and the Michigan Wolverines. He loved football, golf, college basketball, U of M boating, 60's and 70's music and taking long drives with his wife. He especially enjoyed hanging out with the family and watching movies.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial gathering at Fort Custer National Cemetery in May 2021.
