Evelyn passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 29, 2012 at Bronson Nursing and Rehab. Center in Lawton. She was born April 17, 1919 in Detroit, MI the daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Pisarek) Coopersmith. Evelyn was a secretary before her retirement. The best time of her life was a stay at home mom and she enjoyed baking and cooking for her children. On May 4, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA, Evelyn was united in marriage to J. Kendall Brocklehurst who preceded her in death on June 17, 1969. Surviving are 3 daughters, Lesley (David) Markle of Mattawan, Jill (Terry) Booth of Dunnellon, FL and Lynn Brocklehurst of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; son, John Brocklehurst of Alameda, CA; grandchildren Kenneth, Kevin, Andrew, Brian and Kirsten; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron, Brendan, Trevor, Gavin, Matthew and Nathan. Family will receive friends Monday 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, where funeral services will be held following visitation at 1 p.m. with Rev. Joe Spackman officiating. Interment will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn, Michigan. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mattawan Community Church.
