Esther H. Marcelletti of Paw Paw, Michigan, passed away on September 20, 2018. She was born in Chicago, IL on June 15, 1928 and attended LaFayette, Sabin and Tuly High in Chicago until moving to Michigan and graduated from Paw Paw High School. She also attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Esther served her community for many years with Van/Cass Volunteer Red Cross Grey Ladies at Lakeview Community Hospital and continued with the hospital auxiliary primarily in the gift shop for several years. She was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Alter Society-funeral luncheon worker, and St. Mary’s Guild Society. She enjoyed golfing and gardening as long as she was able, along with many other hobbies, but most of all, enjoyed her grandchildren to the fullest—Katie Sherburn (Steven), Rachel Zeleny (Tucker), James Marcelletti (Lauren) and Shelby Thomas, and most recently her great granddaughter Carissa Sherburn. Esther was employed at 1st National Bank in Paw Paw until going to work for the State of Michigan Department of Social Services and Michigan Department of Treasury, ultimately retiring after 11 years in 1985 as bookkeeper for the family business, Fruit Growers Package Company.
She was united in marriage on September 5, 1952 to Rudolph A. Marcelletti, who passed away February 25, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Josephine Wojciechowski, her brothers Adam, Ted and Wally Wojciechowski, her sisters Leona Flake, Catherine Sufranski and Helen Stan. She is survived by her son, Rudolph M. Marcelletti (Peggy) and daughter, Cynthia L. Thomas (Kim) and many nieces and nephews, especially her dearest, Geraldine Landry.
Visitation will be Friday, September 28, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Rosary at 7:30 at Adams Funeral Home 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, Michigan. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Paw Paw, Michigan on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
