Edward Neal Melson, of Lawton, passed away Friday October 20th, 2017 at his home. He was born January 12th, 1945 in Moulton Alabama, the son of Luther Melson and Vernie (Westmorland) Melson. Edward was united in marriage to Geralea Fields on September 23rd, 1965.
Survived by his loving wife Geralea Melson, his children Sherry (Tim) Bulson, Michael (Tammy Smead) Melson, Susan (Tim) Douglas, Brian (Pam) Melson, Rebecca (Brian Wingate) Melson, and Amanda Smith. Eleven grandchildren, Mathew (Shay) Melson, Victoria and Jared Bulson, Nathan and Nicholas Melson, Dayleah and Triton Smith, Zandria Wingate, Edward Michael Melson, Connor and Dalton Douglas. Two great grandchildren, Timothy Hopwood Jr. and Aaron Manion, his mother Vernie Melson, brothers Howard Melson and Bobby (Kay) Melson, sisters, Lewellyn (Jerry) Stripes, Larry (Judy) Melson, Brenda Young, Kerry Melson, and Sister in Law Claudia Chetto. He was preceded in death by his father Luther, a brother and sister in law James and Georgie Melson., sister Deborah Rogers, and brother in law Daniel Young.
Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time in the vineyards. He coached little league baseball and was an umpire as well. He helped anyone and everyone who needed help. He was a secret Santa to many people. Edward was a devoted family man who would do anything to make sure his family had what they needed. He loved his family dearly. He was a retired truck driver. Memorials may be directed to Reverence Home Hospice or University of Michigan Cancer Center. There will be a Memorial Service October 28th, 2017 at 29300 Dennis Sweet Dr. Lawton, MI 49065.
