Edward Ignacek Sr., 91, of Paw Paw, MI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 10, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of Joseph and Anna (Ehlert) Ignacek.
Edward was raised in Chicago and proudly served in the United States Army including being stationed in Japan. He married the love of his life, Elsie Ballay on June 11, 1949. In 1965, Edward and Elsie moved their family from Chicago to a farm north of Paw Paw. He and Elsie were avid lifelong bowlers. Ed was a founding member of the Paw Paw Elks Lodge and Elk of the year. He loved to go to casinos and he enjoyed a good game of golf when he could. He and Elsie also loved to travel, some of their favorites being Florida, Las Vegas, and California but they would go all over the place together. Edward worked most of his life at the construction field retiring as superintendent from Bouma Betten Incorporated.
Surviving are his Wife of 70 years, Elsie Ignacek, Children, Alan (Colleen) Ignacek, Deborah (Nathan) Bitely, Edward (Vanessa) Ignacek, Jr., Joanne Randles, Merry Cooper, Wendy (Brad Plunkett) Ignacek, nine Grandchildren, eight Great-Grandchildren, and a host of other loving family and friends. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, a granddaughter, Rachel Randles, and a grandson, Edward Ignacek III.
Friends and family will be received at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Ave., on Sunday, December 15, 2019, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
