Paw Paw

Ed passed away the night of February 24th, 2020 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI.  He was born, raised, and lived in Paw Paw, MI and was 76 years young.  Ed was loved by so many; he was there to help anyone that he could.  On most days you could find Ed in and around his home always working on wood projects, he had a passion for making whirligigs, he was a great craftsman, and he loved his garden always finding new tricks to make his crops better.  He was a wonderful, caring, and loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was just as great to the rest of his family and friends.  Ed was an avid fisherman who enjoyed new fishing spots and making his own lures.  He had a knack for finding a good sale and loved going to garage sales.  He was a veteran of the Unites States Marine Corp and worked most of his adulthood until retiring at Duo-Tang.  On top of all the amazing things he did in his life, he was a mentor to so many and will be greatly missed.  Ed is survived by his wife Penny Guritz (Barrett); 2 children, daughter, Myrna Guritz and son, Mason Guritz; 6 grandchildren, Magan Guritz, Michaella Shultz, Cameron Guritz, Robert Guritz, Alexis Guritz, and Brandon Guritz; 7 brothers, Tim (Jewel Peterson), Irv (preceded by Sharon Blomer), Paul (Jody Coulson), Jon (Shannon Verhage), Tom (Judy Drury), Phil (Sally Phetteplace), and Dan (Diane Edgerly); 10 great grandchildren; his uncle George; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He’s preceded in death by his mother Alice Guritz (Farster); his father Arthur Guritz; 2 sisters Mary Guritz (Kalmbach) and Rose Guritz; and his son Edward Guritz Jr (Eddie). There is to be a celebration of life held in the spring, the family will update with more information.
