Ed passed away Tuesday morning, March 6, 2012 at Bronson Nursing & Rehab Center in Lawton. He was born September 12, 1928 in Sekitsch, Yugoslavia the son of the late Wilhelm and Christina (Hunsinger) Fuhrmann. Emigrating to the US after WWII, Ed quickly found work with the Chicago Carpenters Union as a carpenter and house framer, his primary trade for the next several decades. He purchased 15 acres of land in Paw Paw on which he hand-built a cottage, where he and his family enjoyed summer and weekend vacations as a respite from the "big city". In 1988 he retired and moved to Paw Paw full-time. He enjoyed music, gardening, bowling, and worked as a custodian for Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw where he was a member. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maria (Kalwait) Fuhrmann in July of 1980 and his second wife, Shirley (Stubenvoll) Carpenter Fuhrmann on June 2, 2006. Surviving are 2 sons, Edwin (Melanie) Fuhrmann of Round Lake Beach, IL. and Harry Fuhrmann of Charlotte, N.C. grandson, Carl Fuhrmann, dear friend and assistant, Janice Wilson of Paw Paw. Family will receive friends Saturday (3/10), 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ron Moritz officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw.
