Dr. George Stiglich, DDS, age 97 of Paw Paw passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Whites Oaks in Lawton. George was born February 22, 1920 in Paw Paw the son of the late Frank and Mary (Pinter) Stiglich. The youngest of nine children, George had the distinction of living in the house he was born in for 97 years. After high school George attended Western Michigan University which war interrupted, being drafted into the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II. He served honorably in the Medical Corps in the European Theater and is a life member of the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post # 68, Paw Paw. . After the war George returned and finished his 4 years at W.M.U. He then attended University of Michigan, getting his dental degree. He was a dentist in Paw Paw for 40 years while also helping his brother Pete on the farm. George was the last living person in his immediate family, leaving many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, Jack, Peter, Frank, Anna, Kate, Antonia, Josephine and Frances. He will be greatly missed. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, April 27th at 11 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #68, P.O. Box 19, Paw Paw, 49079 to purchase a TRACK chair for a disabled veteran.
