Dorothy Katharine Staehling passed away peacefully on October 31, 2019, at the age of 93. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Fred Ransom and Clara (Sanborn) Kogge. She graduated from Paw Paw, class of 1944 and was a member of the band. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Paw Paw and held many different jobs, including the Buick garage. She married Chris Staehling on April 15, 1967. They enjoyed their Three Mile Lake residence where their Jeniola Park Cabins were the site of family reunions and returning vacationers. Dorothy was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paw Paw.
She enjoyed being active in golf, bowling, woodworking and always had a craft project in process. Family celebrations and being with friends was very meaningful to her and her husband who became a very special caregiver to her in her later years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Chris, brother Fred Kogge, and
grandniece Lauren Kogge. Dorothy is survived by nephews Steven (Sumire) Kogge of Hastings, Scott (Rose) Kogge of Grand Rapids, Stuart (Kathie) Kogge of Traverse City, niece Sandra (Gary) Ragan of Wayland, three grandnephews, a grandniece, and sister-in-law, Jeanette Kogge of Hastings.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with the memorial at 11:00 am with Rev. Ronald Moritz officiating. Private interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek. Memorials contributions may be directed to a charity of choice.
