Dorothy passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013 at her home with her family at her side. She was born December 5, 1915 in East Chicago, IN the eldest of nine children of the late Julius and Julia (Bobak) Laskovy. Dorothy was a secretary at LakeView Community Hospital Laboratory until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw, and V.F.W. Auxiliary in Decatur. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed golfing, crocheting, bowling, gardening, and dancing. Her greatest passion was caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a very generous and caring person who opened her heart and home to many people. Surviving are daughter: Judy (Robert) Surdy of Mattawan; son: David (Suzanne) Smith of Decatur; 4 Grandchildren; 9 Great grandchildren;6 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Petersen of Fond du Lac, WI, Eleanor Mead of Portage and Stella Pollack of Paw Paw; brother, Peter Laskovy of Niles; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Cutler in World War II and her second husband, David Smith; daughter, Kathleen M. Brusach; four brothers, John, Stephen, Max and Alex Laskovy and an Infant great grandson, Nicholas Brusach. Cremation has taken place with interment of cremains in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Paw Paw.
FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FRIDAY, (AUG. 8, 2014) 6 to 8 P.M. AT THE ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, PAW PAW WHERE A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD FOLLOWING VISITATION AT 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Reverence Home Health and Hospice, Kalamazoo.
