Dorothy Ruth Schultz, age 92, of Mattawan, passed away May 24, 2017 at White Oaks in Lawton. She was born January 27, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Walter and Suzanne (Gaba) Leitz. She is survived by two sons, Roger (Pamela) Schultz and William (Denise) Schultz, four grandchildren, William, Robyn, Daniel (Audrey) and Andrew (Ruth) Schultz, two great grandchildren, Lena and Ahna Schultz, one brother Walter (Ann) Leitz, Jr., and one sister Betty (Lowell) Hartsell. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Schultz in 2002 and her son Thomas Schultz in 2014. Dorothy helped manage the fruit farm in Mattawan with her husband. She was a lifelong member of St. John Bosco Parish in Mattawan, a long time member of the Van Buren County Republican Party, the Lakeview Community Hospital Auxiliary, Paw Paw Rotary, WSAM (Woman Survival of Agriculture in Southwest Michigan) and a member of the Antwerp Township Planning Commission for many years. Dorothy was hardworking, a devoted wife and mother and a breast cancer survivor. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff at White Oaks for their wonderful care and support. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, May 29, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw. Mass of Christian burial will take place Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 23830 Front Ave, Mattawan, with Fr. Alan Jorgensen officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately following. Dorothy will be laid to rest on Wednesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mattawan Food Pantry.
