Dorothy passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Maple Lake Assisted Living in Paw Paw. She was born October 29, 1927 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of David and Florence (Howard) Swift. Upon graduation from Lee High School in Grand Rapids in 1945, Dorothy traveled to Los Angeles where she worked as a bookkeeper for Walgreens. Locally, Dorothy was active with the Michigan State Police retirees.
On June 17, 1950 in Grand Rapids, Dorothy was united in marriage to William E. Chandler who preceded her in death May 21, 2003. She is survived by two sons, David (Victoria) Chandler of Eau Claire and Daniel (Rachel) Chandler of Paw Paw; three grandchildren, Jacqueline, Megan and Evan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Swift.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, Rev. Trevor McDermont officiating. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service. Committal services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, November 25 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be directed to Southern Care Hospice.
