Don passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Tendercare of Kalamazoo with family by his side. He was born August 11, 1928 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of the late Floyd W. and Carrie L. (Wood) Warner. Don served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Don was a farmer while employed for 25 years as an Ink Department supervisor by Sutherland Paper Company in Kalamazoo until his retirement. He was then an independent over the road trucker. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, reading his newspapers, as well as his World Almanac and Book of Facts, telling stories, but most of all Don enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Everyone who knew Don loved him. On October 1, 1961, Don was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bernice E. Tyler who preceded him in death on April 2, 2012. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Darcy Warner; 2 sons, Donald and David Warner; step-son, Robert Tenant and a sister, Fern Collins. Donald is survived by 2 sons, Denis Warner of Kalamazoo, and Daniel Warner of Paw Paw; step-son, Ronald (Sylvia) Tenant of Paw Paw; daughter-in-law, Jolly Tenant of Portage; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Zylstra of Byron Center, MI, several nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday (4/30) 2:00 p.m. at Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw with Rev. Tim Gunderson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty, Pet Rescue & Adoption Center, 6955 West KL Avenue, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009 (269) 344-1474.
