Don passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 4, 2011 at his home. He was born October 29, 1930 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Herman and Mary (Hawley) Grimm. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and was a life member of the V.F.W. Celery City Post #6248 in Decatur. He was employed as a machinist for Ronninengen-Petter until his retirement in 1996. Don was also a farmer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. On December 30, 1971 in Paw Paw, Don was united in marriage to Lillian Mae Seward who preceded him in death on February 8, 2009. He was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Linda Mann and Pamela Matthies, son, Donald (Skip) Grimm, step-son, Gerald Bailey, sister, Patsy Vogt. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon (Mitch) Matthies of Lawton; 3 step-daughters, Diane (Tom) Durham of Salinas, CA, Darlene (Wayne) Snyder and Norma (Bob) Holczman both of Battle Creek; 2 step-sons, Philip (Celia) Bailey of Battle Creek and Ronald (Cinda) Bailey of Elkhart, IN; brother, Robert (Beatrice) Grimm of Lawton; daughter-in-law, Brenda Grimm of Kalamazoo; son-in-law, Chris Matthies of Lawton; 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, (10/10), 3:00 p.m. at Chamberlain Cemetery, Porter Township with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Hospice of Southwest Michigan or Huntington's Disease.
