Dolores Agnes Butler, 87, of Paw Paw, MI, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph, MI.
She was born August 27, 1933 in Iron River, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph Verville and Laura (Charboneau ) Verville.
Dolores started out as a nun at age 14 with the Dominican Sisters' Convent in Adrian Michigan from 1947-1951. She contracted Polio when she left the convent and had surgery to regain her ability to walk again without braces. She was the president of the United Paper Workers International Union, Southwest Michigan. Dolores, known as "Spunky" by some, always had a positive attitude and great sense of humor, she did not know a stranger.
She is survived by her son, Gene L. (Kimberly Lottridge) Butler, granddaughter, Ashley Butler; close nieces that were like daughters to Dolores, Cindy Sechman and Peggy Mclendon along with many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Butler in 1988, sisters, Joann, Lorraine, Blanche, Joyce, Mae, Pauline and Deanna, brothers, Willard, Lee and Raymond.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 beginning at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. Burial will follow at Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw.
