Delia Velma (Roden) Haynes, “Mamow,” of Paw Paw, MI, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at age 78 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Delia was born on August 29, 1941, to Grady Olin and Edith Velma (Gibson) Roden in Lawrence County, Alabama.
United in marriage to the late James Franklin Haynes on August 17, 1958. A member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Hartford, MI, she loved her church family which is pastored by Shannon Trulove. She retired with many years of service working in nursing homes and private duty as a home health aide. She loved working and taking care of those around her. Delia really loved to dance; Anytime there was music you could guarantee she would be moving and grooving with a huge smile on her face. Among other hobbies, she loved to cook for family and friends, enjoying a nice glass of iced tea and sharing laughs. She will be dearly missed by many.
Delia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Garnell Olin and Joyce Ann; children, Edith Lucille Haynes, James Leon Haynes, and Angela Sue Paulsen. She is survived by her children, Delilah (Anthony) Black, Bryan Haynes, Maylon Haynes, Dawn Haynes, and Bobbi (Robert) Rawson; 15 Grandchildren, and many, many Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you to her nephew, Eddie Winchester, who checked in on her often and always lent a hand when needed.
The family will greet friends for visitation on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 1pm to 2pm at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan, Paw Paw, MI. A mask is required at the funeral home and only 10 guests may visit at a time. Immediately following is the burial and funeral service at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, 3941 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, MI.
