David Dennis Warmack, 69, of Paw Paw passed away on July 6, 2017 in Paw Paw, Michigan after a long battle with a second round of cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held to honor his memory with visitation at 2:00 and the memorial service at 3:00, Friday July 14th at New Hope Fellowship Church located at 201 W. Michigan, Paw Paw, Michigan. There will be a reception in the church basement following the service.
David Warmack was born December 19, 1947 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Calvin and Naomi Warmack. He attended Comstock High School where he earned All-State honors in football and baseball. He married Peggy Shearer on September 3, 1966. David graduated from Western Michigan University with a BA degree and got a Masters degree from Central Connecticut State University. He taught History, Geography, and Social Studies and coached football. David was head football coach at the high school and college level. He was honored as “Coach of the Year” many times in the state of Colorado and Michigan. He guided his 1988 Grand Junction Colorado High School football team to a State Championship. David was inducted into the Comstock Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013 in recognition of his many accomplishments in sports as an athlete and coach. As a coach he mentored a number of athletes who became professional players in the NFL.
David was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. This love of nature was expressed in his artistic paintings he developed in his retirement.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Naomi Warmack; and two brothers Scott and Roger Warmack.
David is survived by his loving wife Peggy, his sons Ryan Warmack and Casey (Amanda) Warmack, two grandchildren Abbey and Emily; brothers Larry and Terry (Paula) Warmack and a sister Connie Nielsen (David). He is also survived by Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law and nephews and nieces on both sides of the family. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given on his behalf to the National Fellowship of Christian Athletes (link: www.nacasports.net ).
