David Raymond Goddard, age 79, of Lawton, passed away November 3, 2016. David is survived by his two children, Julie (Raymond) Grehl of Rockford, MI and Jeffrey Goddard of Lawton, one graddaughter, Kayla Grehl of North Carolina, sister, Diane Mizener of Downers Grove, IL, two brothers, Richard Goddard of Colorado and Donald Goddard of Missouri. David also leaves behind his life partner, Maxine Watts of Lawton and close family friends, Jim (Tammy) Roberts of Lawton. He was preceded in death by his Wife Margaret and his father and mother, Raymond and Laura (Huxley) Goddard. David was born April 12, 1937 in Chicago, he faithfully served in the United States Coast Guard. He worked as a dispatcher and patrolman for the Van Buren County Sheriffs Department and retired from Earl Sanders & Son Well Drilling. He was a member and past Commander of the Paw Paw American Legion and a volunteer with the Lawton Fire Department. David had a love for animals, especially Samoyed Dogs, he admired lighthouses and he and enjoyed working on cars. Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502, W, Michigan Ave, Paw Paw. Cremation will follow. David will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Mary Free Bed Foundation or to Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Lawton.
