Dale passed away Wednesday evening, March 5, 2014 at Wings of Hope Hospice Home in Allegan. Dale was born June 10, 1926 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Benjamin and Mabel (Haas) Lesman. Dale served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Philippines as a photographer and radio operator. He owned and operated Lesman's Shop Rite grocery in Kalamazoo with his father and brother and later worked for Kalamazoo County as an animal control officer until his retirement. Dale was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw where he served as chairman of the church, on the Board of Elders and on the board of finance. He was also a member of the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post #68, Paw Paw and the McGowan-Johnson Post 68 Past Commanders Club. He enjoyed sailing, gardening and playing golf. On April 19, 1953 in White Cloud, MI Dale was united in marriage to Elinore J. Volz who survives. Also surviving are a son: David Lesman of Lawton, MI; granddaughters, Dominic Lesman of Hawaii and Damika Lesman of Grand Rapids, MI and her daughter London; daughter: Deborah (Andrew) Gavrun III of Lawton, MI and their children, Andy (Jessica) Gavrun of Decatur and their daughter, Clara Ann; grandson: Benjamin (Elizabeth) Gavrun of Colorado Springs, CO and their children, Eli and Toby Gavrun; granddaughter, Ashley Gavrun of Hastings; nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leonard and Billy Lesman and a sister, Betty Lesman. Family will receive friends Monday (3/10) 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. time at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw where service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Eric Gledhill officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw or Wings of Hope Hospice Home, Allegan.
