Cristina "Cris" (New) Gordenier was born on December 17, 1955 in Paw Paw, MI to Johnny Ray and Ruthie Uldine (McCrackin) New. She was united in marriage on June 9, 1979 to Robert "Bob" Gordenier, and in 1985, they welcomed their daughter Jessica who meant the world to her and was her pride and joy.
Cris had a heart of gold and was always helping others, including being a monthly donor to St. Jude. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and horseback riding. Her family will always remember her fondness for the Kentucky Derby. In more recent years, Cris enjoyed watching TV (Dr. Pol on Animal Planet, Little House on the Prairie, Bewitched, anything about Princess Diana, and classic game shows), word find books, and reminiscing with her family and friends. Cris could be found cooking and baking (way too many) goodies for every family member and friend, whether it be for their birthday or a holiday. She especially loved when the kids came over to bake cookies with her. Above all else, Cris cherished her time spent with Bob, Jessica, Andy, and the rest of her family, friends, and beloved pets.
Cris entered into eternal rest on November 21, 2023, at the age of 67, with her closest loved ones by her side. She was grateful to everyone who assisted with her care, fulfilling her last wish to remain at home. Cris was a blessing on Earth and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Cris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Andy Kirby of Vicksburg; brothers William Stroud of Lawton and Johnny (Helen) New of Decatur; sisters-in-law Mary Chmiel and Sharon O'Hara-McFarland both of Mishawaka, IN, and Deje Gordenier of Bozeman, MT; brother-in-law Rick (Judy) Gordenier of South Bend, IN; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cris is preceded in death by her husband Bob on March 22, 2023; parents; sisters Marsha Adams and Wilma Arnold; brothers-in-law Chub Adams, Al Arnold, and Paul Chmiel; parents-in-law Richard and Nancy Gordenier; nieces Tina Goetz and Trina Fester; and great great nephew Ethan Jackson.
