Cornelia Bernice (Lozanski) Longcore

October 15, 1937 — January 13, 2017

Connie Longcore passed away peacefully, January 13, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born October 15, 1937 in Chicago, Il, to the late Bernice and Mathew Lozanski. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Frank, and their four children, Connie Longcore, Gregory (Kristine) Longcore, Pamela Cummings and Ruth (Larry) Wolfe, granddaughter Shakira (Homer) McCall and great granddaughter Aria Taylor, one sister, Pat Thomas of Chicago and several nieces and nephews.

Connie was employed by K-Mart for 12 years where she put her organizational skills to use in the pharmacy and children’s wear departments. Perhaps her most important and everlasting occupations were as a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend. She was a strong woman who always championed for the underdog and taught her children to treat all others with respect and kindness. Loyalty, trust and integrity of the family unit was a lesson taught by example, she and Frank raised four children and were integral in the nurturing of both their granddaughter and great granddaughter. A role that brought her much joy and one in which she took great pride. She was a strict disciplinarian and always stressed the importance of education. She also loved a good joke and would clown around and dance for home movies. Family bonds were formed preparing meals, especially traditional Polish dishes, camping in the summers and enjoying holidays that were unexpectedly bountiful.

Connie was strong in her faith and a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She met challenges with steadfast determination and the knowledge that her family and Lord would always be there with her. This faith comforted her as she, quietly and without complaint, faced several health issues. She stared down each obstacle never admitting defeat. Her strength and courage will forever be remembered by her family and those that knew her.

The family is grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at White Oaks and Grace Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to St. Mary Church or Grace Hospice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
