Chester John Haluch

November 23, 1931 — March 11, 2018

Chester John Haluch, 86, passed away on March 11, 2018 at Bronson Commons with his family by his side.  He was born on November 23, 1931 in Paw Paw, MI to John and Nellie Haluch (Kwasniak).  Chester grew up in Paw Paw, MI.  He graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1950.  He was united in marriage to Bette Vargo on June 23, 1951. They were happily married for 63 years and had 5 children together.

Chester was employed by the Sutherland Paper Mill, John Tapper Oldsmobile, and retired from the Michigan State Police and Sunburst Memorials.  Chester was a life time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the sexton of the cemetery.  He also took care of Glendale and Austin cemeteries for part of his life.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Always making sure everyone was taken care of, not only his family but the community in which he lived.  He would do as much as lending a hand, giving the shirt off his back and cooking his famous pork roasts for grieving families.  He also enjoyed planting a garden every year and giving it all away to the priests, neighbors, and his friends.  Often times you would find him working around the farm with his tractors and lawn mowers.  He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his children Linda Conner, William (Renee) Haluch, David (Lacee) Haluch, and Mary Haluch.  Grand children Ashley Conner, Sara (Ron) Perry, Phillip (Lauren) Curtis, Blake Curtis, Taylor (Cody) Curtis, Hunter and Skylar Haluch, and Olivia and Garrett Haluch.  Also surviving are his great grandchildren Noah, Jacob and Nicole Perry and Mason Hite, his loving K-9 Sadie and sister Josephine Ruzick.  He was preceded in death by his wife Bette Haluch, daughter Nancy Curtis, grandson Justin Curtis, his brothers Stanley and Frank Haluch, his sisters Stella (Haluch) Gap, Victoria (Haluch) Finn, Genevieve (Haluch) Jaros and longtime family member Nyal Brown.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Adams Funeral home where a Rosary service will commence at 7:00 p.m.   A memorial mass will follow on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joseph Xavier and Father Robert Creagan officiating.
