Brenda Joyce (Aleksich) Heighton

Brenda Joyce Heighton passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023 at home in Mattawan, Michigan with her family by her side.

She was born May 10, 1943 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Nicholas Aleksich and Elizabeth (Isaac) Aleksich.

Brenda had a green thumb, and there was nothing she loved more than working in her flower gardens. She was a talented cook as well, and loved creating delicious food for her family and friends. Brenda would spend much of her free time delighting in reading the written word. Her passion for books was well known to her family.

She was most famous for her genuine love for helping others. Brenda would lend a hand or an ear often, and never expected any recognition nor anything in return. She was a wonderful person who knew that the key to happiness lie in the ability to give of herself.

Besides her parents, Nicholas and Elizabeth, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Aleksich, as well as her sister, Linda Bell.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons and their spouses, Jeff (Susan) Heighton of Mattawan, MI, Keith (Mary) Heighton of Gaylord, MI; along with five beloved grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
