Bernard "Barney" passed away early in the morning of Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Tendercare in Kalamazoo, MI. Barney was born January 9, 1928 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Walter and Maybelle (Humpert) Sellman. After graduating from St. Leo's High School in Detroit, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Barney's passions were gardening and woodworking and he also enjoyed sports, especially his Detroit Tigers. Above all else he loved spending time with his family. On January 21, 1956 in Detroit, Barney was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Carolyn (Ridley) Sellman, who survives. Also surviving are his children, John (Linda) Sellman, Jeanne (Jim) Hess and Jim (David) Sellman; grandchildren, Andrew & Kevan Hess, Lana, Erin & Brenna Sellman; sister, Charlotte (Charles) Chaffin. He was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Sr. Geraldine, Fran & Delmar. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends on Saturday (11/3) from 12-1 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church (new location, 412 Cedar St, Paw Paw), where a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with a reception to follow.
