Barbara Sue Wilson, 80, of Lawrence, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at her home.
Barb was born in Hornersville, Missouri, October 5, 1942, to the late Edgar Lee and Violet (Sairls) Lee. She was one of 15 children and enjoyed growing up with the company of her siblings. As a young girl, Barb enjoyed all the normal things including music. The family had relocated to Florida and Elvis came to perform in Florida, Barb snuck out of the house to get a chance to see Elvis live.
During a major snowstorm, Barb welcomed a baby girl into the world named Roberta. The only means to get Barb to the hospital was to take a snowmobile that day. She was united in marriage to Dale Wilson, who preceded her in death. Barb enjoyed sewing items and caring for her family. She always held a strong Christian faith and attended the Baptist church throughout her life while her health allowed her. Barb and Dale enjoyed living in the sunny state of Florida, she had always wished to return to Florida as she did not like the Midwest cold and she wanted to spend time with her best friend, Joyce. One of Barbs favorite possession was her pretty green Ford Mustang that she loved driving around. Unfortunately, after receiving to many speeding tickets, Dale sold the Mustang.
Barb loved flowers and her junk food. Although she could be known to be stubborn, she had a huge heart and lived for her great grand babies that brought her so much joy. Second to her grandkids was the deep love Barb had for dogs. She always looked forward to the family reunions where she could spend time with her siblings and huge extended family. These gatherings would leave Barb talking for days about the fun she had.
Barb is survived by her daughter, Roberta (Tom Gendron) Craft, three grandchildren, Jacob (Alisha Parrish) Craft, Sarah Craft and Rebekah Craft; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Craft, Hazel Craft and Lynden Craft; four brothers, Billy Wayne (Shirley) Lee, Donnie Lee, Grandle (Debbie) Lee, Glenn (Deborah) Lee; five sisters, Bonnie (Roy) Hawkins, Connie Honeycutt, Maxine (Loren) Clay, Ruth (Mike) Fytczyk and Patricia (Eddy Mendoza) Weigel.
