Avis passed away peacefully Friday morning, May 18, 2012 at White Oaks in Lawton. She was born December 8, 1932 in Allegan the daughter of the late Hale V. and Lena (Kitsmiller) Whisler. Avis worked as a secretary all her life in the Paw Paw area. First for her parents at Paw Paw Flashes, the Paw Paw United Methodist Church Office, and retired from the Paw Paw Public Schools on February 13, 1993. She was a member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church. On August 8, 1951 in Yuma, AZ, Avis was united in marriage to Frederick L. "Fritz" Fooy who preceded her in death on December 15, 2006. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Edith Whisler. Surviving are a son, Steve (Nancy) Fooy of Howell, MI; daughter, Leann Fooy of Germantown, WI; 4 grandchildren, Kyle, Josh, Chris and Ashley Fooy; 4 sisters, Evelyn Holder of Kalamazoo, Thelma (Norm) Breedeway of Brooksville, FL, Donna (Bob) Fooy of Parchment, MI, and Lois (Charles) Craddock of Paw Paw; brother, Hale (Gloria) Whisler of FL; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Monday (5/21) 6 to 8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Spackman officiating. Interment will follow in Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paw Paw United Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association
