Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
Arlene Joan Michales, 79, of Paw Paw, MI, died peacefully in the comfort of her beloved home on February 18, 2019.
She was born June 9, 1939 in Manistee, MI, the daughter of Joseph (Red) and Clara Lewandowski (Ake).
Arlene married Joseph (Joe) Michales on February 1st, 1958, in Manistee and has now been reunited with him in heaven.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her four daughters each had a special place in her heart and she was the kind of Grandma (Nany, Mena) everyone dreams of. She had a strong love for her many siblings. Arlene also had a way of making everyone feel like family.
Arlene spent many weekends at the Wellston Flea Market with her “second family”, many who became lifelong friends. She loved the home she and Joe shared on Loon Lake – calling it her “Heaven on Earth”.
In recent years, she treasured her time with her “Sweetie”, Bill Jackson, sharing memories and making new ones.
She is survived by her four Daughters & three Sons-in-Law: Julie & Dave Dykstra of Rockford, MI and children, Brent & Brittni Buesking; Joni & Mark Purgiel of Rockford, MI and daughter Amanda (Donny) Syverson; Joyce & Arlen Dykstra of Three Rivers, MI and children, Stephanie (Josh) Carver, A.J. Dykstra, and Joe Dykstra; Jackie Michales of Paw Paw, MI and her son Nick DeYoung; eleven Great Grandchildren; three Sisters, Patricia Dyell, Dianne Shipes and Audrey Roskoski; three Brothers, Ernest Ake, Jr., Rick Ake and Gerald Ake; Sister-In Law and Brother-in Law, Fran & Clifford Kaminski; as well as numerous special Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her Husband, by her Parents; her Step-Father, Ernest Ake; and three Brothers, Donald Ake, Bill Ake, and Floyd Ake.
Her four Daughters will be honoring her wishes by celebrating her life at her home with her loved ones.
Keeping with Arlene’s natural love for children, contributions may be made to: Shriners Hospitals for Children (donorrelations@shrinenet.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (donors@stjude.org).
