Anthony (Tony) Leon Gower Jr., 33 of Columbus, Ohio, passed away suddenly on November 27, 2016 in Aberdeen, Maryland. He was born November 2, 1983 in Kalamazoo. He is survived by his father, Anthony (Penny) Gower of Indianapolis, Indiana, mother, Lora (Bob) Stockdale of Columbus, Ohio, sister, Anna (Shannon) Simon, step brothers Wesley, Taylor, Isaiah and step sister Whitney of Indianapolis, Indiana, niece Amelia of Fort Knox, Ky. Also surviving are his grandmother, grandfather, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tony was a proud member of the Army from October 2002 until he was honorably discharged in September 2008. Tony had specialized training in BIDS/CBRN and was one of the few people in the entire world that was educated in this equipment. Tony enjoyed traveling all over the world, with the military and his other jobs. Tony attended Cambridge University in England for a summer semester in the archeology department which he loved. He even met a favorite artist of his in a pub in London. Tony went to work with Batelle in Columbus, Ohio, continuing his work with the BIDS unit. Tony eventually went to work at IAP in Aberdeen, MD, as project manager for the BIDS operation. Tony used to say that the BIDS unit was his “baby” he loved his work and was proud of the accomplishments he had made with this program. “So fly high secret squirrel”. Tony was a member of the Free Masons for many years. He loved family, friends, music, and bowling. He was a free spirit that went through life with enthusiasm for whatever adventure was next in his life. Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 W, Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, where a memorial service will commence at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Greg Carlson officiating. Cremation will follow.
