Anna (Guritz) (Flick) Van Den Berg, 94, of Paw Paw, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at Meadow Woods Nursing and Rehab Center in Bloomingdale. She was born December 9, 1919 in Washington Township, IL, the daughter of George and Ella (Lindermann) Guritz. On April 17, 1940 in Paw Paw, Annie was united in marriage to Earl Flick, who preceded her in death in 1975. She was united in marriage to Donald D. Van Den Berg on August 24, 1985, and he preceded her in death in 2010. Annie was a homemaker and worked on the farm milking cows and picking fruits and vegetables. She was later employed by Duo Tang, retiring in the early 1980s. Annie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a great bowler and an avid pinochle player in her card group.
She is survived by a son, Marvin (Julie) Flick of Paw Paw, two daughters, Rosetta Ford of Joliet, IL and Patricia Anne Melone of Homer, AK; step-children, Paul (Judy) Van Den Berg, Janet (Greg) Martin and Betty Hotchkiss, all of Plainwell; a brother, George (Jennie) Guritz of Paw Paw; daughter-in-law, Shirley Flick of Paw Paw; and 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 25 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by four siblings and spouses, Melvin and Viola Guritz, Arthur and Alice Guritz, Earl Guritz and Della and Jim Dillenbeck. She was also preceded by two sons-in-law, Paul Ford and Ronald Hotchkiss, a grandson, Douglas Van Den Berg, a niece, Karen Dillenbeck and two great nephews, Eddie Guritz and Dave Van Noor Loos.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw, Rev. Eric Gledhill officiating. Family and friends may gather for food and fellowship immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Meadow Woods Nursing and Rehab Center.
