Alice passed away Wednesday morning, July 27, 2011 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo. She was born February 14, 1926 in Berlamont, Michigan the daughter of the late Ignace and Aniela Tarala. Alice lived at White Oaks in Lawton for the past 3 A½ years. On October 21, 1944 in Paw Paw, Alice was united in marriage to Albert M. Sitar who preceded her in death on June 7, 2002. They were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw and the Van Buren County Farm Bureau. Alice and her husband owned and operated the Sitar family fruit farm in Paw Paw for many years until their retirement in 1989. She was very close to her husband's family, including siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews, which she considered to be her own. Surviving are 2 sons, Albert of Charlotte, NC and Donald (Brenda) of Paw Paw; 2 daughters, Vicki Sitar of Mattawan, and Deborah (David) McConnell of Paw Paw; 6 grandchildren; 3 Great grandchildren; brother, Stanley Tarala; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Casmir and Ted Tarala. Family will receive friends Sunday (7/31) 4 to 7 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. A memorial mass will be held Monday, (8/1) 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. Joseph Xavier celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, Kalamazoo or St. Mary's Church, Paw Paw.
